FULLERTON, Calif. - The No. 3 UCLA baseball team dropped a 7-1 decision at Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday evening, snapping the Bruins' four-game win streak. Cal State Fullerton's Jeff Kaplan (2-1) limited the Bruins (5-2) to two hits in six scoreless innings, recording eight strikeouts to earn the victory.

UCLA right-hander Dan Klein (1-2) absorbed the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) and nine hits in 5.1 innings.

Cal State Fullerton third baseman Joel Weeks led the Titans offensively, hitting 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. First baseman Jared Clark finished 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI for the Titans. UCLA center fielder Blair Dunlap hit 1-for-3, notching one base-hit and one RBI. Third baseman Jermaine Curtis finished 2-for-4 at the plate for the Bruins.

The Titans (4-4) struck for three runs in the bottom of the second, assuming a 3-0 lead. Clark led off the frame getting hit by a pitch and moved to third base on designated hitter Corey Jones' ensuing single up the middle. A base-hit to center by Weeks drove home Clark. With runners in scoring position after a sacrifice bunt, left fielder Jeff Newman plated Jones with a sacrifice fly to left. Weeks scored on the next at-bat, advancing home from third base on a wild pitch.

The Titans added two runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 advantage. Shortstop Christian Colon led off the frame with an infield single, advanced to second base on a groundout and scored on right fielder Erik Komatsu's single through the right side. Komatsu took second base on a wild pitch and scored when Clark singled up the middle.

Cal State Fullerton scored their sixth run in the bottom of the fifth. Center fielder Josh Fellhauer doubled to left-center field with one out, stole third base and advanced home on a throwing error by catcher Brent Dean.

UCLA got on the board with one run in the top of the seventh. Trailing 6-0, pinch-hitter Mickey Weisser drew a walk, advanced to second base on a groundout and scored on a base-hit up the middle by Dunlap.

The Titans responded with one run in the bottom of the inning. Komatsu drew a one-out walk, stole second base and moved home on a two-out single to center field by Jones.

UCLA and Cal State Fullerton shift their two-game mid-week swing to Jackie Robinson Stadium on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Bruin right-hander Charles Brewer takes the hill and will face Titan right-hander Daniel Renken.

Game Notes: The seven runs scored by Cal State Fullerton are the most by any UCLA opponent this season...both teams meet twice more this spring - Wednesday, March 5 (6 p.m.) at UCLA and Tuesday, May 20 (6 p.m.) at Cal State Fullerton...the Bruins last lost a game on Feb. 23 in the second game of a season-opening double-header against Oklahoma...right-hander Dan Klein made his first collegiate start Tuesday evening.
