Junior Stephanie Kono (Honolulu, HI/Punahou School) of the UCLA women's golf team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for May 2-8.
Kono took home co-medalist honors at the NCAA Central Regional and helped lead the Bruins to their sixth regional title under Coach Carrie Forsyth. Kono tied for first after birdying her final two holes to post a final round 68 (-4), which was the lowest round of the day. Overall, she overcame a six-shot deficit on the final day to take home her first tournament victory of the year. Kono now heads into the NCAA Championship with a team-leading four top-5 finishes, 6 top-10 finishes and 14 rounds under par on the year.
This is Kono's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of her career.
