Wright, Barnes and Leroux named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List
The Missouri Athletic Club released a list of 45 women's soccer players who it thinks are likely candidates for the Hermann Trophy player of the year award on Wednesday. Among those named to the Watch List were Bruin players Kylie Wright, Lauren Barnes and Sydney Leroux.

"Given the tremendous talent throughout the country, I think it's a great honor to be considered for this award," said UCLA head coach Jillian Ellis. "Kylie, Lou and Syd are three extremely important pieces to our program and they each deserve to be named to this list".

It marks the first time that Wright has been designated as a candidate for national player of the year, however both Barnes and Leroux were among tthose named to the Watch List in 2009. UCLA's Lauren Cheney was one of the top 3 finalists for last year's award, which ultimately went to Stanford's Kelley O'Hara. Click HERE for the complete 2010 Watch List

UCLA Picked to Finish Second in Pac-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll
For the third year in a row, UCLA was picked to finish second in the annual Pac-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll released by the conference on Wednesday. With nine first-place votes, defending Pac-10 Champion Stanford was chosen as the favorite for this year's title. UCLA was the only other team to receive a first-place vote. The Bruins and Cardinal are set to clash on Oct. 10 at UCLA's Drake Stadium.

"Our conference is always very challenging so to be picked near the top is always an honor," said Ellis. "I think having so many Pac-10 teams selected to the postseason last year was a reflection of the depth of this conference. I'm hopeful that our non-confernce schedule will adequately prepare us for the demands of the Pac-10."
