NORMAN, Okla. - The UCLA baseball team lost, 7-6, at No. 16 Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Bruins (2-9) rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a five-run eighth inning before the Sooners (11-3) responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to win, 7-6.

UCLA right-hander Charles Brewer logged eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings and did not record a decision, limiting Oklahoma to three runs and five hits. Brewer allowed two baserunners - on one single and one double - from the third through sixth innings. Oklahoma right-hander Antwonie Hubbard notched seven strikeouts in six innings, surrendering one run and two hits while issuing four walks, and did not register a decision.

Oklahoma right-hander Tyson Seng (1-0) recorded the win, recording one out in relief. Bruin left-hander Brendan Lafferty (0-1) was tagged with the loss, allowing two runs off one hit and one walk without recording an out in relief. Right-hander Ryan Duke recorded his second save in as many days, pitching a scoreless ninth.

Outfielder Justin Uribe led the Bruins at the plate, going 2-for-3 off the bench with one run and a game-high three RBI. Second baseman Eddie Murray went 1-for-2, scoring one run and collecting two RBI. Center fielder Blair Dunlap went 2-for-5 with one RBI, as Uribe, Murray and Dunlap each logged one double for the Bruins.

The Sooners scored twice in the second inning before Uribe helped the Bruins' slice their deficit in half with a pinch-hit, RBI-double to the gap in right-center, scoring left fielder Gabe Cohen from second in the sixth.

UCLA scored five runs in the top of the eighth to assume a 6-3 lead. Uribe singled to left field with nobody out, sending home designated hitter Cody Decker from third and Cohen from second. Gallego followed with a sacrifice bunt and advanced to second base on a throwing error by Oklahoma pitcher J.R. Robinson. An infield groundout by pinch-hitter Tyler Rahmatulla scored Uribe from third. Murray followed with a double to right-center field to score Gallego. Dunlap lined a double down the right-field line, sending home Murray.

Oklahoma added four runs with one out in the bottom of the inning to secure a 7-6 cushion. With one runner at first base, shortstop Bryant Hernandez lifted a pop-up single to shallow left-center field. After a walk taken by left fielder Casey Johnson, catcher Aaron Baker drove home two runners with a double down the right-field line. Third baseman Garrett Buechele lined a single through the left side of the infield to score the game-tying and game-winning runs.

Saturday's game marked UCLA's sixth one-run loss in 11 games.

UCLA and Oklahoma conclude their three-game series on Sunday, March 8. Game time at Oklahoma's L. Dale Mitchell Park is slated for 11 a.m. (PT). A live audio broadcast will be available online at uclabruins.com.

Game Notes: Gabe Cohen became the first Bruin to draw four walks in one game since Chris Denove accomplished the feat against Cal State Northridge on Feb. 12, 2005...right-hander Charles Brewer recorded four consecutive strikeouts in the third and fourth innings; Brewer accomplished that same feat against UC Irvine on Sunday, March 1...Eddie Murray's two RBI in the eighth inning handed the Bruins' senior infielder the team lead with nine RBI on the season.
