Freshman Bo Taylor and senior Greg Garza highlighted the men's track and field team at the Texas Relays on Friday as Taylor won the "B" discus and Garza finished second in the "A" disc competition.

It was the second straight day a thrower had captured an event title in as many days and it was the first event win for Taylor in his Bruin career. His throw of 183-4 was just four inches shy of his lifetime-best of 183-7 and nearly three feet better then his nearest competitor.

Garza, a two-time All-American in the discus, placed second in the "A" competition with a season-best 201-10. His throw was over a seven-foot improvement on his season-best mark and will most likely rank amongst the top-three in the nation this season.

Also in the "A" discus, senior All-American John Caulfield finished fourth with a throw of 191-0. Taylor was invited into the "A" section and finished eighth with a mark of 179-11.

In the "A" section of the long jump, senior Joel Tuosto posted a mark of 23-2.75 to place seventh overall. Freshman Jonathan Clark finished 13th in the "B" triple jump with a mark of 48-5.50.

At the Stanford Invitational, senior Henry Hagenbuch highlighted the Bruin distance team as he ran a lifetime-best of 8:52.14 in the steeplechase to finish eighth in section one. In section two of the steeple, junior Drew Shackleton also ran a lifetime-best as he placed 10th in a time of 9:08.71. Freshman Dylan Knight (9:10.01) and sophomore Kevin Sullivan (9:15.18) finished 12th and 14th, respectively.

In section five of the 5000m, sophomore Alex Crabill ran a lifetime-best 14:29.60 to finish third overall. Freshman Scott Crawford was the fifth fastest finisher in the "B" 800m with his time of 1:51.50. In the "A" 800m, freshman Cory Primm placed 19th in a time of 1:51.60.

Competition continues on Saturday at both the Texas Relays and Stanford Invitational.
