Indian Wells, Calif. - UCLA tennis player Daniel Kosakowski earned a spot in the qualifying draw in one of the biggest tournaments on the ATP Tour on Sunday, as he won the pre-qualifying tournament at the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Kosakowski, a freshman from Downey, Calif., had to win six pre-qualifying matches to earn the qualifying wild card. He defeated former Fresno State standout, Rudolf Siwy, 7-5, 6-3 in Sunday's final.
Qualifying for the BNP Paribas Open runs from March 8-9. Kosakowski faces Tim Smyczek of the USA on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Check out the official BNP Paribas Open Website for more information.
