SEATTLE, Wash. - UCLA dropped an 8-3 decision to Washington on Wednesday afternoon in Seattle, falling to 30-13 on the season (6-6 Pac-10). The Bruins had RBIs from Jaisa Creps, Lisa Dodd and Jodie Legaspi on the day, but were unable to overcome eight runs posted by the Huskies.
Washington started the onslaught with two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning and added five more runs in the second inning. UCLA posted a pair of run in the top of the third inning. Tara Henry led off the inning with a bunt single followed by a Krista Colburn walk. After Jaisa Creps singled to load the bases, a Lisa Dodd fielders choice scored Henry to make the score 7-1.
A Jodie Legaspi double plated a second run for the Bruins, who would leave the bases loaded in the inning. Washington scored an additional run to make the score 8-2.
In the top of the seventh, Henry recorded a one-out infield single and was safe at second on a ground ball by Colburn that left both runners safe on the play. A Creps single scored Henry to make the score 8-3, but UCLA's late inning rally would fall short.
The Bruins return to action this weekend, hosting Oregon on Friday at 1 pm before playing host to Oregon State on Saturday and Sunday at Easton Stadium. Saturday is scheduled for a 2 pm first pitch while Sunday's game will begin at 1 pm.
