Senior Cullen Hennessy of the UCLA men's water polo team talks about the Bruins' pair of wins against Stanford and Santa Clara on the road last weekend in the latest edition of his weekly video blog, "Poolside With Cullen Hennessy."
Hennessy and a few other Northern California area teammates had an opportunity to return to familiar turf, playing in both Palo Alto and Santa Clara. Hailing from Fairfax, Calif., Hennessy starred in the pool at Sir Francis Drake High School.
UCLA's 7-6 win at then-No. 1-ranked Stanford on Saturday helped the Bruins earn the new No. 1 spot in the national weekly top-20 poll. UCLA has not earned sole possession of the No. 1 ranking since Oct. 2005. The Bruins shared the top spot with USC after winning the 2009 MPSF Tournament title, days prior to playing in that season's NCAA Tournament.
The Bruins continue their season with a pair of non-conference games this Saturday at Pomona-Pitzer. UCLA faces Whittier at 1 p.m. before taking on Pomona-Pitzer at 3:30 p.m.
