WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA has been selected second in the Pac-10 Conference's preseason baseball coaches' poll, as announced Wednesday by the conference office. UCLA and Arizona State, picked to finish first, each received three of 10 first-place votes.
Arizona State received 69 total points and UCLA followed with 67 points. Stanford was selected third, receiving one first-place vote and 64 points, and Oregon State was chosen to finish fourth, collecting two first-place votes and 58 points.
Selected to finish fifth, Arizona captured the final first-place vote and 42 points.
California (42), USC (38), Washington State (24), Washington (23) and Oregon (9) round out the poll's final five teams.
UCLA, ranked No. 12 by Baseball America, opens its season with a three-game series at home against UC Davis beginning Friday, Feb. 20. Game time is 6 p.m.
