Consensus No.2 ranked UCLA prepares for the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship this weekend at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, GA, Mar. 20-22.

In the first round, top-seeded UCLA faces South Carolina on Sun., Mar. 20. The winner of that match meets the winner of the Georgia-Texas Tech match.

UCLA won this event during the 2007-08 season on its way to a national championship. The Bruins also finished third in 2009.

Seven players will travel to the match play event, including consensus No.1 ranked Patrick Cantlay. Cantlay earlier this week became the first UCLA freshman to earn the No.1 collegiate ranking in both the GolfWeek and GolfStat polls. He has set a UCLA freshman record by winning three tournaments this season. He leads the team with a scoring average of 70.2 and has played 18 rounds in 23-under par. In February, he was voted Pac-10 Player of the Month.

Also competing for the Bruins will be sophomore Pontus Widegren and junior Gregor Main, ranked 47th and 61st, respectively. Widegren is second on the team with a 72.1 scoring average and won the Fall Preview this year at Karsten Creek. Main won his first collegiate tournament on Mar. 8 -- the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia CC.

Other players competing for the Bruins in Georgia are senior Connor Driscoll, junior Alex Shi Yup Kim, a 2010 1st Team All-Pac-10 selection, and sophomores Mario Clemens and Pedro Figueiredo.

Hawks Ridge will play to a par of 72 over 7,235 yards.
