Women's Soccer Announces 2008 Recruiting Class

LOS ANGELES - UCLA women's soccer coach Jillian Ellis announced the signing of seven players to national letters of intent on Wednesday. Headlining the group are four players with youth national team experience, while two more are Region-IV ODP Team members. All seven players will be freshmen in the fall of 2008.

"With these players, in addition to what we have returning from last year, I'm very excited about the future of our program," said Ellis, who has led UCLA to five straight NCAA College Cup appearances. "Having gotten to know these players throughout the recruiting process, I know that this is a special group that will excel both on and off the field as student-athletes at UCLA."

Below is information on UCLA's seven recruits listed by position:

Sydney Leroux - Forward
Surrey, British Columbia, Canada (Horizon HS)
Has played for both the Canadian and U.S. Youth National Team programs ... Originally from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada ... Currently attends Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. ... Plays for the Sereno Soccer Club ... Recently called into camp with the Under-20 U.S. National Team ... Represented Canada at the 2004 Under-19 World Championships in Thailand at the age of 14...Has also played for both Canada and the U.S. at the U-16 and U-17 levels ... Helped her club team, Sereno '90 White, to a state championship in 2007.

Hannah Mac Kechnie - Midfielder
Camarillo, Calif. (Camarillo HS)
A midfielder/striker on three CIF Championship teams at Oaks Christian High School ... Currently attends Camarillo High School ... Has also played extensively with the Cal South ODP team ... Plays club soccer for Real So Cal ... Helped Real So Cal to Premier League, Surf Cup and Super CYSA championships last year ... Younger sister of Bruin midfielder Caitlyn Mac Kechnie.

Summer Williams - Midfielder
Orinda, Calif. (Miramonte HS)
Member of the ODP Nor-Cal State Team in 2005 and 2006 ... Named to the Region IV ODP Team in 2006 ... Diablo Foothill Athletic League (DFAL) Offensive MVP in 2005 and 2006 ... Helped her high school, Miramonte, to a pair of league championships in 2007 and 2008 ... Named to the Times Bay Area Top 100 Athletes of 2006 ... Plays club soccer for the Mustang Fury ... Helped the Fury to two semifinal appearances in the State Cup in 2006 and 2007 ... Attends the same high school as former Bruin goalkeeper Valerie Henderson.

Robyn Dutton - Defender

Canadian U-17 National Team member ... Recently traveled to Florida with the U-17s, playing exhibition matches against the United States and Chile ... Also listed in Canada's U-20 pool ... Has also represented Canada at the U-15 and U-16 levels ... Traveled to Germany with the U-16s in 2006 ... Plays for the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club ... Amelia Mathis - Defender
