NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Senior Brittany Rowe led the No. 1 UCLA women's water polo team past No. 9 Loyola Marymount, 11-6, Saturday afternoon at Corona del Mar High School in the UC Irvine Invitational. UCLA (15-0) outscored the Lions in each quarter, as seven Bruins recorded goals in the victory.
Senior Jillian Kraus and junior Katie Rulon each totaled two goals for the Bruins. Seniors Gabrielle Domanic and Courtney Mathewson, junior Tanya Gandy and freshman Priscilla Orozco each scored for UCLA.
Loyola Marymount's Crisara Abrams led the Lions with two goals.
UCLA led 2-1 after one quarter and 5-2 at halftime. The Bruins outscored Loyola Marymount by a 3-2 margin in each of the final two quarters.
Junior Brittany Fullen made eight saves in the cage for UCLA. Loyola Marymount's Eliana Arellano recorded four stops in goal.
Earlier in the day, UCLA defeated No. 17 Cal State Northridge, 12-4.
The Bruins will face fifth-ranked California in a semifinal match on Sunday at UC Irvine's Anteater Pool. Game time is slated for 10:30 a.m. The winner will face either No. 2 Stanford or No. 3 USC in the championship match at 5:15 p.m.
