Flushing, N.Y. - UCLA women's tennis player Robin Anderson won a pair of back draw matches on Saturday to earn a spot in Sunday's consolation singles final at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Anderson cruised in her opening match of the day, losing just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Auburn Montgomery's Ana Veselinovic in the quarterfinals. She then notched a 6-2, 6-2 semifinal win over Maryland's Cristina Stancu.
Awaiting Anderson in the consolation singles final is Duke's Beatrice Capra. That match is slated for 10:00 a.m. (EST) on Sunday.
Anderson and teammate Skylar Morton were awarded the consolation doubles title on Saturday after their opponents, Kristi Boxx and Abby Guthrie of Ole Miss, withdrew from the tournament.
