Moraga, Calif. - UCLA men's tennis player Alex Brigham came up just short in his bid for a title at the 2011 Gael Classic on Sunday, as the Bruin junior fell in finals of both singles and doubles at Saint Mary's University.
Brigham, the tournament's No. 4 seed, suffered a 6-4, 6-3 loss to second-seeded Xavier Smith of Fresno Pacific in Sunday's singles final. Brigham had not dropped a set in the tournament prior to the match.
Fresno Pacific actually swept both titles at the tournament, as Nathan Martinet and Kirill Sinitsyn upset second-seeded Brigham and Dennis Mkrtchian, 8-5 in the doubles final.
