Senior Greg Garza was honored by the Pac-10 Conference on Monday as he was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week after posting the No. 2 discus mark in the NCAA over the weekend.
Garza improved on his previous season-best (200-10) with a throw of 204-9 at the Modesto Relays and moved into the No. 2 spot in the nation this season. He was the top collegiate finisher in the competition and fifth overall.
Garza, the two-time defending Pac-10 champion in the discus, will look for his third straight crown this weekend as the Bruins head to Tempe for the Pac-10 Championships.
This was the fourth Pac-10 honor for the men's track team this season. Junior Dustin DeLeo and freshman Jonathan Clark were previous honorees for Field Athletes of the Week. Junior Kevin Craddock was honored as the Men's Track Athlete of the Week after the USC dual meet.
