On a warm, windy day at North Ranch Country Club, the UCLA men's golf Blue Team was in 10th place after two rounds at the Ashworth Invitational, hosted by USC.
The Bruins posted team scores of 313 (+29) and 303 (+19) for a 36-hole total of 616 (+48). Host USC was first at 591 (+23), follwed by Pepperdine at 596 (+28) and BYU at 601 (+33). Stanford was fourth at 602 (+34) and Washington and Loyola Marymount were tied for fifth at 603 (+35).
Individually for the Bruins, junior Lucas Lee recovered from a first round of 78 (+7) with a second round of 68 (-3) and was in fifth place at 146 (+4). He trailed the leader -- James D'Amore of Loyola Marymount -- by five shots. Freshman Connor Driscoll was tied for 38th at 154 (+12) and sophomore Ben Choe was tied for 50th at 156 (+14). Senior Brandon Christianson was 76th at 165 (+23).
Junior James Lee, after posting a first round score of 82 (+11) withdrew because of an injured shoulder.
Final round competition continues on Tuesday.
