LOS ANGELES - UCLA was selected to finish third among the league's 10 schools in the 2010-11 Pac-10 Conference Men's Basketball Preseason Media Poll, as announced Thursday at the conference's annual media day.

Washington owned the preseason poll's top spot, securing 33 of 35 first-place votes. Arizona was picked to finish second and received one first-place vote. Picked to finish third, UCLA also received one first-place vote in the preseason poll.

Arizona State was picked to finish fourth, followed by Washington State and USC. California was tabbed seventh, and Oregon, Stanford and Oregon rounded out the 10 teams in the preseason poll.

UCLA was represented at the event by head coach Ben Howland and freshman center Joshua Smith. The Pac-10 Conference hosted its men's basketball media event at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Pac-10 Comissioner Larry Scott announced that the conference will honor the late head coach John Wooden and his legacy by producing a Sportsmanship Public Service Announcement that will share the teachings of his Pyramid of Success in each home arena throughout the season. The conference will have a special in-game presentation to the Wooden Family during the Pacific Life Pac-10 Basketball Tournament and has renamed the Pac-10 Coach of the Year Award in both men's and women's basketball to the John Wooden Coach of the Year Award.

The Bruins host Westmont College (Santa Barbara, Calif.) in an exhibition game Thursday, Nov. 4. Game time at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion is 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the game are available by calling UCLA's Central Ticket Office at 310-UCLA-WIN (310-825-2946) or by visiting uclabruins.com.
