Redshirt senior Nick Meister (Trabuco Canyon, CA/Tesoro HS) of the UCLA men's tennis team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
Meister, also this week's Pac-12 Player of the Week, won a pair of singles matches over the weekend, helping the ninth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team to wins over two top 15 teams. With Friday's dual match against No. 13 Cal tied at 3-3, Meister downed Nick Andrews, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1 at court No. 1, propelling the Bruins to a 4-3 win. The following day at No. 6 Stanford, Meister upset 37th-ranked Ryan Thacher, 7-6(6), 1-6, 7-5 at the No. 1 position, helping UCLA to a 6-1 victory. With the two wins, Meister improved his record to 5-0 on the season.
This is Meister's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
