Jahanshahi & Hall Highlight Bruin Swimming & Diving At Texas Invite

The No. 24 swimming and diving team started off the Texas Invite with a bang on Thursday as the Bruins posted 14 season-best times, six lifetime-bests and six NCAA B cuts.

Senior Lauren Hall had a career day in the 500 free as she swam nearly a five second PR and the No. 8 time in school history, 4:45.68, to finish third overall in the A final. Senior Alex Sullivan also posted a lifetime-best as she won the B final (9th) with a season-best by over 12 seconds (4:45.84). Sam Vanden Berge, also a senior, was just one second shy of her personal-best as she was 10th in the B final with a season-best swim of 10 seconds (4:45.96). All three women achieved an NCAA B cut during the event.

Also in the 500 free, senior Dani Milligan won the C final with a season-best time of 4:54.40 (17th), while sophomore Briana Meyer won the D final swimming a season-best 4:59.36 for 25th overall.

Hall also finished third in the 200 IM with a season-best of almost two seconds (1:58.50, NCAA B cut). Sophomore Karoline Sanderud won the B final (9th) with a lifetime-best performance of 2:02.09, while junior Paige Treleven was 14th with a lifetime-best of 2:04.03. Milligan won the C final with a lifetime-best swim of 2:02.68, followed by senior Brittany Beauchan in 18th (2:03.24). Junior Bianca Casciari swam a season-best of 2:02.49 to win the D final (25th).

In the 100 fly, junior Yasi Jahanshahi led the way as she finished second in the 200 fly with a lifetime-best of 52.94. That time moves her to No. 2 all-time in UCLA history. Junior Bianca Casciari won the B final (9th) with a season-best of nearly two seconds (53.42). Both Jahanshahi and Casciari's times were NCAA B cuts. In the C final, sophomore Emma Drsydale was 20th with a season-best swim of 55.97, while junior Isabel Williams was 26th with a season-best of 56.80 (just .05 shy of her lifetime-best).

In three-meter diving action, senior Laura Winn led a Bruin sweep of ninth through 12th-place as Winn was ninth with a score of 275.45. Freshman Paulina Guzman was 10th (270.75), senior Karina Silva was 11th (270.45) and frosh Haley McNamara was 12th (259.60). Sophomore Maggy Boyd was 18th (246.00).

Competition continues in Austin on Friday with the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 800 free relay and one-meter diving.
