The Bruins are 15th in both national polls this week, moving up one spot in the USA Today/NFCA rankings and up two in the Softball poll. UCLA received 45 additional points in the NFCA poll and 26 more points in the USA Softball rankings.

Through games played on April 15, the Bruins are the nation's leader in batting average at .357 and slugging percentage at .603. UCLA is nine points ahead of second-place Texas in batting average and 10 points ahead of second-place Alabama in slugging. The Bruins are also in the Top 20 in four other categories, ranking tied for fourth in home runs (62), fifth in runs per game (7.12), tied for seventh in doubles (67) and tied for 24th in triples (10). Individually, freshman Stephany LaRosa is in the Top 50 nationally in four categories, ranking tied for eighth in runs batted in (51), 15th in batting average (.442), tied for 20th in home runs (13) and tied for 21st in slugging (.812). Senior Katie Schroeder is 13th in on base percentage (.545), tied for 14th in runs scored (45) and 22nd in batting average (.431). Also in the Top 50 are senior Samantha Camuso (44th, slugging, .739), senior Dani Yudin (T-30th, walks, 30), junior B.B. Bates (T-26th, home runs, 12) and sophomore Jessica Hall (T-7th, saves, 4).

The Bruins are two wins away from their 400th Pac-10/12 victory. Head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez is also two wins shy of 250 for her career ... along with their Pac-12-best .357 batting average (through April 15), the Bruins are also first in the conference in slugging (.603), hits (395), doubles (67) and total bases (668), and tied for first with 62 home runs. The full listing of UCLA team and individual standings in the Pac-12 is available on page five of this release ... the Bruins saw their 87-game winning streak when scoring at least six runs come to an end in the first game of the April 10 doubleheader against Stanford. It was the most runs for UCLA in a defeat since May 6, 2000 at Arizona (lost 12-9 in nine innings). Since seeing the streak snapped, the Bruins are 2-0 when scoring at least six runs ... UCLA is 18-0 this season when limiting its opponent to two runs or fewer ... the Bruins are 17-0 when leading after five innings and 17-0 when leading after six. Since 2008, UCLA is 139-1 when ahead after five (only loss vs. Florida, 2/25/11) and 129-1 when ahead after six (Washington, 4/23/11) ... 29 of the Bruins' 62 home runs have been solo shots. 20 of the 62 have been leadoff homers. The third inning has been the best for homers, as the Bruins have 17 ... senior Katie Schroeder is in the UCLA career top 10 in seven categories, ranking second in runs scored (185), third in stolen bases (49) and walks (112), fourth in on base percentage (.480) and hit by pitches (28), seventh in batting average (.376) and ninth in hits (258). Senior Andrea Harrison is listed six times, coming in at fourth in slugging (.652), tied for fourth in home runs (50) and total bases (431), fifth in runs batted in (173), tied for sixth in doubles (46) and seventh in hit by pitches (19). Senior Dani Yudin is fourth in walks (108), tied for eighth in hit by pitches (17) and ninth in on base percentage (.437), senior Samantha Camuso is 10th in slugging (.589) and sophomore Jessica Hall is third in saves (6) ... freshman Ally Carda has earned a win and produced at least a pair of hits in the same game six times (Loyola Marymount, Fordham, Pittsburgh, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, Stanford-Game 3) ... Camuso is one home run shy of 30 for her career and her second double-digit homer season (16 in 2010) ... sophomore Talee Snow has reached base in 20 of her last 22 games and is hitting 81 points better from her freshman to sophomore season (.239 to .320) ... freshman Stephany LaRosa is in the midst of a career-high, seven-game hitting streak, batting .542 with three homers, 13 RBI and seven runs ... Hall's four saves tie her for second on UCLA's single-season list with Christa Williams (1997). Megan Langenfeld holds the record with five saves in 2008 ... Harrison has reached double figures in home runs for the third straight season and is one away from moving into fourth on UCLA's all-time list ... junior B.B. Bates leads the Bruins with seven game-winning RBI and six game-winning runs scored ... sophomore Kellie Fox recorded her fourth-career, three-hit game in the first end of an April 10 doubleheader against Stanford ... in the nightcap of that twinbill, Schroeder equaled a personal best with four runs scored ... sophomore Alyssa Tiumalu has started eight of the last nine games behind the plate ... Yudin is six RBI away from 100 for her career.

The Matadors are 8-31 this season and are hitting .196 as a team with 13 home runs and 14 stolen bases, averaging 1.9 runs per game. Cal State Northridge is 0-8 against teams currently ranked in the Top 25. Sophomore Madeline Sale leads the way with a .262 batting average, while junior Mikayla Thielges is first with six home runs and 15 runs batted in. In the circle, five different Matadors have appeared in at least four games. Twenty-one of the 39 starts have gone to junior Mia Pagano, who is 7-13 with a 3.43 earned run average and 86 strikeouts in 151 innings. Former Bruin Tairia (Mims) Flowers is in her second season as the Matadors' head coach and is assisted by former UCLA players Caitlin Benyi and Natasha Watley.

UCLA leads the all-time series 39-9 and has won 17 in a row. The Bruins are 16-5 at home against the Matadors. UCLA won last year's meeting at Northridge 8-0 in five innings (Feb. 23). Kellie Fox hit a grand slam, Katie Schroeder went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Jessica Hall tossed four shutout innings with three strikeouts. In the last matchup at Easton Stadium, the Bruins won 7-2 on Feb. 20. The Matadors' last win was a 5-4 triumph on April 15, 1998 in Northridge and their most recent victory in Westwood was on April 26, 1995 (1-0 in 10 innings).

Utah (23-18) has dropped 10 in a row overall and all 12 of its Pac-12 contests, including a three-game sweep at home against Oregon last weekend. The Utes have been outscored 88-15 in conference play and are 0-13 versus ranked teams. Utah is hitting .290 overalls as a team with 39 home runs and 40 stolen bases, averaging 4.8 runs per game. Senior Whitney Holm is first on the squad with a .397 average, eight homers and 33 runs batted in. Five others are hitting over .300, while junior Kelsi Hoopiiaina is second on the team with seven homers and first with 13 stolen bases. In Pac-12 play, the Utes are hitting .203 with three homers and five steals, averaging 1.3 runs per game. Junior Katelyn Elliott is batting .276 to pace Utah in league action. Senior Generra Nielson has started 32 of Utah's 41 games and is 17-13 with a 2.62 earned run average and 232 strikeouts in 179 innings. Sophomore Naomi Amu is 4-3 with a 4.10 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 41 innings, while freshman Mariah Ramirez is 2-2 with a 6.32 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 41 frames. Nielson is 0-7 in Pac-12 play with a 6.41 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings.

UCLA is 17-1 all-time against Utah (2-0 in Westwood) and has won 11 in a row. The teams met last season on Feb. 19 in Las Vegas, as the Bruins won 6-2. Katie Schroeder hit a pair of solo home runs, B.B. Bates and Kellie Fox each had two hits and Jessica Hall added two hits and went 3 1/3 innings in the circle with two strikeouts to earn the win. Utah's only victory in the series was a 3-1 triumph on March 3, 1990 in Las Vegas.
