Box Score

TUCSON, Ariz. - The fifth-ranked Bruins held a 3-0 lead through 4 1/2 innings, but third-ranked Arizona scored five unanswered runs, winning it on a two-run, walk-off homer by Kristen Arriola to record a 5-3 victory on Friday at Hillenbrand Stadium.

The Bruins fall to 39-11 overall and 13-7 in Pac-10 play, while the Wildcats improve to 43-10 and 13-7 in league action.

Junior Donna Kerr (17-7) pitched superb, striking out 10 in 6 1/3 innings and allowing two runs, six hits and three walks. Junior GiOnna DiSalvatore went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs batted in, while senior Megan Langenfeld also homered.

The Bruins struck first in the third inning when DiSalvatore hit a 1-0 pitch over the right-field wall for her eighth home run of the season to make it 1-0.

In the fourth, Langenfeld led off the inning by hammering an 0-1 offering out to left-center for her 14th homer of the year to increase the lead to 2-0.

Kerr got out of a big jam in the bottom of the fourth. Stacie Chambers singled to right, and one out later, Lini Koria and Arriola drew walks to load the bases. But Kerr retired Baillie Kirker on a pop up to short and struck out Karissa Buchanan to end the threat.

The Bruins tacked on another run in the top of the fifth. Senior Kaila Shull walked to open the inning and moved to second on a groundout by freshman B.B. Bates. DiSalvatore followed with a single up the middle to plate Shull to make it 3-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Wildcats tied it up. Brittany Lastrapes led off with a walk, and one out later, moved to second on an infield single by K'Lee Arredondo. After Chambers walked to load the bases, Brigette Del Ponte hit a bases-clearing double to right-center off junior Whitney Baker to tie the score at three.

In the seventh with Kerr back in the game, Del Ponte was hit by a pitch with one out, and one out later, Arriola homered to left to send the Wildcats to a walk-off victory.

The Bruins and the Wildcats conclude their three-game series and their respective regular seasons on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Gametracker and live audio will be available at UCLABruins.com.
