Castellanza, Italy - The UCLA women's basketball team concluded its four-game tour of Italy with a 121-43 victory over Italian club team Basket Feminile Varese on Thursday in Castellanza.
Five Bruin players were in double-figure scoring, led by post players Jasmine Dixon and Atonye Nyingifa, who dominated the paint and scored 26 points apiece. Guard Rebekah Gardner added 21 points, and Markel Walker and Mariah Williams each scored 13 points. Also contributing to the scoring totals were Thea Lemberger with eight points, Moriah Faulk with seven, Rhema Gardner with four and Kacy Swain with three.
UCLA held Varese to just 17 points and four field goals in the second half and outscored the Italian team, 38-3 in the fourth quarter.
The Bruins were originally scheduled to play the Nigerian National Team, but visa problems forced the Nigerians to cancel.
The Bruin team will spend one day in Como before returning to Los Angeles on Saturday.
