UCLA vs. the NCAA Regional Field
The only other time that UCLA and Sacramento State squared off was in the 2001 NCAA Regionals at UCLA. The Bruins posted a 4-0 win over the Hornets in that match, eventually advancing all the way to the quarterfinals before falling to SMU. Meanwhile, UCLA has faced both UC Irvine and Cal this year. The Bruins beat the Anteaters, 7-0 on Feb. 23, pushing their all-time series lead to 32-2. After beating Cal both at home and on the road this year, UCLA now leads that series 83-10.

Bruins Selected for NCAA Individual Championships
Four UCLA men's players have been selected to participate in the NCAA Individual Championships, running from May 26-31 in Athens, Ga. Competing in the 64-player singles draw will be Haythem Abid and Matt Brooklyn. Amit Inbar and Nick Meister were chosen to compete together in the 32-team doubles draw. The individual portion of the NCAA Championships takes place immediately following the team competition, which runs from May 20-25.

UCLA in the ITA Rankings
UCLA checked in at No. 9 in the final ITA Team Rankings of the regular season released on May 3. Individually, UCLA has four players ranked in singles led by Haythem Abid at No. 51. He is followed by No. 58 Matt Brooklyn, No. 71 Nick Meister and No. 117 Amit Inbar. In doubles, Inbar and Meister check in at No. 16. Meister is also ranked No. 53 with Abid. New team and individual rankings will not be released again until the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament. Current ITA Rankings can be accessed by clicking HERE.

Bruins 3rd in Final Pac-10 Standings
UCLA upset No. 4 USC, 4-3 in the final match of the regular season on April 16 to finish third in the final 2010 Pac-10 standings (4-2 overall). USC and Stanford tied for the conference title, as both schools finished with identical 5-1 records. It marks just the second time in the last seven years that UCLA has not earned at least a share of the Pac-10 title.

Meister Headlines All-Pac-10 Selections
Junior Nick Meister was named a first-team All-Pac-10 selection on April 29, as he was one of four Bruin players honored by the conference in its year-end awards. Meister, from Trabuco Canyon, Calif., is tied for the team lead in singles victories this year, owning a 24-10 overall record. He was 14-5 in dual matches, appearing six times at the No. 1 position, going 4-2. He checks in at No. 71 in singles and No. 13 in doubles (w/Amit Inbar) in the latest ITA Rankings. Also recognized by the conference were Inbar and Matt Brooklyn, who were both named to the second team. Haythem Abid was an honorable mention selection. The complete release can be accessed HERE.

Inbar, Meister Tied at 24
Nick Meister and Amit Inbar currently lead the team in singles victories this year, as each player has 24 wins heading into this Saturday's contest with Sacramento State. If Meister finishes the season with the most wins, it will mark the third year in a row that he has led the team in that category. He had 30 wins as a freshman in 2008 and 26 as a sophomore last year.

Abid Helps Tunisia in Davis Cup
Senior Haythem Abid recently traveled to Marrakech, Morocco for round-robin play in the Africa Group III of Davis Cup play. Abid was undefeated in both singles and doubles over the four-day event, helping Tunisia earn wins over Benin, Ghana, Cameroon and Algeria. Thanks in part to Abid's play, Tunisia was promoted to Europe/Africa Zone Group II for 2011.

Tabatruong Steps Right In
After arriving at UCLA in January, freshman Maxime Tabatruong has been a pleasant surprise for head coach Billy Martin this season, as the Frenchman has stepped right in to post some big results. Tabatruong, whose sister Emmanuelle was a four-year letterwinner at Long Beach State from 2004-07, owns a 13-5 overall record this season, including and an 11-3 mark in dual matches. He won arguably the team's biggest match of the year on April 16, as his 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4 victory over USC's Jason McNaughton helped the Bruins to a 4-3 upset over their cross-town rivals.
