Golfers Fall to Seventh after Three Rounds

The No.1 ranked UCLA women's golf team fell to seventh place after the third round of the 29th NCAA Women's Golf Championship at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, NC.

The Bruins posted one of their worst scores of the season -- a 14-over par score of 302 -- and dropped 24 shots out of the lead entering the final round. Purdue overtook USC at the top of the leader board, firing a round of 280 (-8) for a three-round total of 858 (-6). The Trojans fell from their perch after a seven-over par round of 295 and trailed the Boilermakers by seven. Arizona State and Alabama were tied for third at 871 (+7), followed by fifth place Arizona at 875 (+11) and sixth place Vanderbilt at 879 (+15).

Individually, freshman Tiffany Lua posted the Bruins' best score, a 74 (+2) and was tied for 32nd place at 221 (+5). Sophomore Stephanie Kono was tied for 36th at 222 (+6) following her third round score of 75 (+3). Junior Glory Yang and senior Sydnee Michaels were tied for 49th at 224 (+8), following rounds of 77 (+5). Sophomore Brianna Do was tied for 65th at 226 (+10) following her round of 76 (+4) on Thursday.

Arizona's Jennifer Johnson continued to lead the field, firing a 70 (-2) on Thursday for a 54-hole total of 207 (-9).

The Bruins are scheduled to tee off at 1:25 p.m. EDT from the 10th tee for Friday's final round.
