Swimming Hosts Tri-Meet, Diving Travels to Trojan Invite

The Bruins, ranked 15th in the initial College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll, host UC Davis and Washington State on Friday in a swimming tri-meet at Spieker Aquatics Center, while the diving team heads to the Trojan Invitational at USC on Friday and Saturday.

The swimming tri-meet at Spieker begins at 1 p.m. The two-day diving invite at USC starts on Friday at 12 p.m. and continues on Saturday at 10 a.m. Admission to both events is free.

The UCLA swimming and diving teams are coming off a successful quad meet victory against Oregon State, UC Santa Barbara and Utah on Oct. 12 at Spieker. The Bruins beat the Beavers 197-92, the Gauchos 185-110 and the Utes 211-83. Junior Ting Quah and freshman Katie Kinnear each won a pair of races, while junior Paulina Guzman took both diving events.

The Bruins, off to a 2-0 start in Pac-12 action, face a Washington State team which is 2-2 in dual meets this season. The Cougars defeated Seattle (179-83) on Oct. 12 and Grand Canyon (160.5-99.5) on Oct. 27, while falling to conference foes Arizona (119-75) on Oct. 26 and Arizona State (170-88) on Oct. 27.

In their lone dual meet of the season, UC Davis fell to San Jose State 208-92 on Oct. 27. The Aggies also participated at the Pacific Invitational on Oct. 20.

Last season at the Trojan Invitational, now sophomore Emma Ivory-Ganja was the top UCLA finisher in the Three-Meter (2nd overall), One-Meter (4th) and Tower (6th) events.
