Senior middle blocker Nana Meriwether (Potomac, Md./Sidwell Friends HS) of the UCLA Women's Volleyball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week (Oct. 16-22).
Meriwether, this week's Pac-10 Player of the Week, led the Bruins in kills (19), attack percentage (.486), blocks (10) and points (6.125/game) as UCLA defeated USC, 25-30, 30-20, 30-24, 30-22, at the Lyon Center on Friday night. It was UCLA's first win over USC since a home sweep of the Women of Troy on Nov. 3, 2000, in Pauley Pavilion. It was Meriwether's 18th double-figure kill performance of the season, marking the 16th time she has hit .400 or better in a match, and her third performance of the season with double-figure blocks.
This is Meriwether's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and fourth of her career.
