The Sun Devils are 4-1 in Pac-12 play (32-4 overall) after splitting a doubleheader at Oregon last Saturday (L, 3-0 and W, 7-4). Sunday's series finale in Eugene was rained out. Arizona State swept rival Arizona in Tempe to open conference play (March 23-25). The defending national champions are hitting .340 as a team with 53 home runs and 45 stolen bases, averaging 7.4 runs per game. Sophomore Alix Johnson leads the club with a .463 batting average and nine doubles to go with five home runs, 23 runs batted in and five stolen bases. UCLA leads the all-time series with Arizona State 89-28 and is 39-13 in games played in Tempe, but the Sun Devils won two of three against the Bruins last season in the desert (April 15-17). A first-inning grand slam for Kellie Fox held up in UCLA's 4-1 victory in the series opener, but they would be the last runs to cross home plate for the visitors, as Arizona State won 2-0 and 5-0 to win the weekend. After the Bruins had won 11 in a row in the series from 2003 to 2006, the Sun Devils have claimed 11 of the last 16, including five of six.
