The majority of the No. 14 UCLA swim and dive team will travel to Austin, TX for the Texas Invitational November 30-December 2, the biggest invitational meet for the Bruins this season. Junior Chiemi Yamamoto and recent graduate Kim Vandenberg will travel to West Lafayette, IN for the U.S. Open, also from November 30-December 2.
The Bruins will compete at Assistant Coach Erika Hansen's former school in a very competitive meet with several of the top ranked teams in the country set to swim and dive.
The 11th-ranked Texas women welcome No. 1 Stanford, No. 6 Florida, No. 9 USC, No. 14 UCLA, No. 18 Wisconsin, No. 24 Arizona State, UNLV, Wyoming, TCU, UC-Santa Barbara, Hawaii and Washington State for the Texas Invitational.
The Bruins are currently 4-1 (2-1 Pac-10) with wins over Oregon State, UC Santa Barbara, University of San Diego and Arizona State. The swimmers have been off for a few weeks, but the divers were in action two weeks ago at the Minnesota Invitational, in which Tess Schofield won the tower event.
With multiple athletes having already qualified for the NCAA Championships and NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, the Bruins are poised and ready for a strong showing in Texas to wrap up the 2006 competition season.
Prelim sections begin at 10:00 am (8:00 am PST) and finals will start at 6:00 pm (4:00 pm PST) each day. Results will be available at the Texas Longhorns website.
