Redshirt senior forward Alyssia Brewer (Tulsa, Okla./Sapulpa HS) of the UCLA women's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Dec. 10-16, marking the second week in a row she has been honored.
Brewer recorded her third and fourth consecutive double-doubles this week in leading the 14th-ranked Bruins to a pair of wins and the St. John's Chartwells Holiday Classic title. The Bruins began with a 76-62 win over Saint Mary's on Dec. 15 and then edged St. John's in the championship game, 53-52 in overtime on Dec. 16. Brewer scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds with one assist, one block and one steal against the Gaels. She then registered 14 points and 15 rebounds with two assists and two blocks against the Red Storm. Brewer was named the Tournament's MVP as she averaged 13.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in the two contests. She has recorded five double-doubles in eight games this season for the 7-1 Bruins and averages 11.6 points and a team-leading 10.0 rebounds per game.
This is Brewer's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
