Los Angeles, Calif. - UCLA men's soccer coach Jorge Salcedo has landed another outstanding recruiting class by signing eight newcomers to join the Bruins for the 2012 season. Included in this class are five players that are ranked in the Top Drawer Soccer National Top 100 Recruits list and five that have national team experience. Two signees, Holden Fender and Cole Nagy, each garnered NSCAA Youth All-America honors in 2011 while also earning All-State honors during their high school tenure. The Bruins also added sophomore transfer Leo Stolz, who earned CAA all-conference and all-rookie honors as a freshman in 2011. Overall, UCLA's class consists of five players from California, one player from Georgia, one player from Arizona and one player from Germany.
"We are very excited to introduce the 2012 class," Head Coach Jorge Salcedo said. "The recruiting paradigm has changed over the past few years, but the bottom line is to sign young men who will be winners on and off the field, because the players are the backbone of UCLA Soccer. This class, which is comprised of youth National Team members, U.S. Soccer Academy National Champions, and the top players in our country gives us a group of players who will help our program continue to be successful. While we lost very talented players from a team that reached the 2011 College Cup, I am very confident this recruiting class will achieve great things in the years to come."
