Freshman center Kevin Love (Lake Oswego, OR/Lake Oswego HS) of the UCLA men's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week (March 17-23).
Love averaged a double-double in his first NCAA Tournament weekend with 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. He also averaged 5.5 blocks per game. In the first round win over Mississippi Valley State, he led the Bruins with 20 points, nine rebounds, four blocks, two assists and a steal in just 21 minutes. In the second round win over Texas A&M, he had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. He also had a season-high seven blocks and added one steal. He hit two clutch fade-away shots in the final two minutes and set two crucial screens for Darren Collison's last two baskets to secure the win. Love shot 55.6 percent from the field (15-for-27), 40.0 percent from three-point range (4-for-10) and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line (5-for-6).
This is Love's fourth UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
