The swimming and diving team moved up to fifth on day two of the Pac-12 Championships in Federal Way, WA as the Bruins tallied 12 lifetime-bests, 24 season-bests and seven NCAA "B" cut times. Stanford leads with 462 points, followed by Cal (426.5), USC (390), Arizona (385) and UCLA (341.5).
Twelve Bruins competed in event finals on Thursday evening as Anna Senko, Andrea Reigel and Kathryn Murphy competed in A finals, and divers Emma Ivory-Ganja and Paulina Guzman competed in the final of one-meter.
Lauren Baker and Monica Dornick started the night off with strong swims in the C final of the 500 free as Baker swam a lifetime-best of 4:48.49 to finish 18th and Dornick swam a season-best of 4:49.61 to place 20th.
The 200 IM was a big event for the Bruins as four lifetime-bests were swam in the night finals. Senko and Reigel were both competing in the A final and both women posted lifetime-bests, NCAA "B" qualifiers and improved marks on the UCLA all-time top-8. Senko was sixth with a time of 1:58.48, moving her to No. 2 all-time in school history. Reigel moved to third all-time with her top swim of 1:59.05 as she finished seventh overall.
In the B final of the 200 IM, Noelle Tarazona swam the No. 6 time in school history with her 12th-place swim of 1:59.86. Laurence Delisle finished 13th as she swam 2:00.12, but posted a season-best of 1:59.97 in the prelims. Both Tarazona and Delisle swam NCAA "B" cut times. In the C final, Karoline Sanderud finished 24th with a lifetime-best of 2:02.01.
Murphy led the way in the 50 free as she finished eighth in the A final with a time of 22.54. Cynthia Fascella was 18th in the C final as she swam a season-best and improved NCAA "B" cut time of 22.79. Ting Quah was 24th with a swim of 23.47.
In one-meter diving action, Ivory-Ganja tallied a lifetime-best in both the prelims (277.45) and finals (275.20) as she finished seventh overall. Guzman was eighth with a score of 267.60. Haley McNamara finished 10th (253.25), Michelle Vale was 16th (226.85) and Maggy Boyd finished 21st (202.25).
In the final event of the night, the 200 free relay, the team of Murphy (22.82 split), Fascella (22.62 split), Quah (23.04 split) and Jesse Bergman (22.98) finished fifth with a time of 1:31.45.
Competition continues on Friday with the prelims and finals of the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, three-meter diving and the 400 medley relay.
