HOMESTAND WRAPS UP FOR UCLA AGAINST LMU, STANFORD
The defending national champion and sixth-ranked Bruins finish up their homestand with four contests this week, facing Loyola Marymount on Wednesday at 2 p.m. before hosting #13 Stanford this weekend (Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.). The Bruins are on the road next weekend for the first time in Pac-10 play, traveling to Tempe, Ariz. to face Arizona State in a three-game series. Friday and Saturday's contests are at 7 p.m., while Sunday's game is at 12 p.m. Gametracker and free live audio will be available at UCLABruins.com.
BRUINS IN THE POLLS
The Bruins moved up one spot to sixth in this week's USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll and jumped up three positions to 10th in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball rankings. The Bruins tied Arizona for first in the Pac-10 preseason rankings, with each team receiving four first-place votes and 46 points.

Senior GiOnna DiSalvatore, who leads the Bruins this season with 11 doubles, is one away from becoming UCLA's all-time leader in that category. Her 59 two-baggers tie her with Tairia Mims ... senior Donna Kerr hit the 100-strikeout mark on Sunday against Oregon State. Her 8.6 strikeouts per seven innings ranked 42nd in the nation ... junior Samantha Camuso has resumed practicing and is week-to-week after undergoing hip surgery in December ... junior Andrea Harrison, who leads the team with a .432 batting average, 10 home runs and 38 runs batted in, will wear #18 for the remainder of the season to honor her sister Monica, who will not play this year due to an injury ... freshman Talee Snow, the team and Pac-10 leader with nine sacrifice hits (13th in the nation in sacs per game), has hits in four straight games and five RBI during that stretch ... freshman Jessica Hall earned her 14th win of the season on Saturday against Oregon State and is tied for 33rd in the nation in that category ... sophomore B.B. Bates leads the Bruins with eight multiple-RBI games and six stolen bases and produced her second-career, two-steal contest in the weekend finale versus OSU ... junior Aleah Macon pitched in all three games last weekend, tossing 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief ... freshman Kellie Fox has three separate hitting streaks of nine, nine and eight games this season. She has hits in 17 of her last 19 contests and in 27 of 31 overall ... junior Katie Schroeder has six multiple-hit contests during her current seven-game hitting streak, during which she is batting .619 (13-for-21) with 11 runs scored, four RBI and four doubles ... freshman Alyssa Tiumalu has three home runs in her last six contests, leaving the yard against Ohio (March 24), in the first game of a doubleheader versus UC Santa Barbara (March 29) and in the weekend finale against OSU ... junior Dani Yudin belted her first two grand slams against Ohio and UCSB, both with two outs, and has 13 two-out RBI this season which ranks tied for third on the squad ... Kelly Inouye-Perez earned her 200th-career victory on March 11 against Sacramento State and is 209-54 as the head coach ... the Bruins are 17-0 this season when scoring a run in the first inning. Over the last year and a half, UCLA is 38-1 when scoring in its opening at-bat ... the Bruins are 6-0 on Sundays ... UCLA has posted 11 mercy-rule wins and six shutouts ... UCLA has hit two or more homers 15 times and are undefeated ... 90 of the Bruins' 227 runs have been scored via the home run (39.6 percent of their runs) ... During its current seven-game winning streak, 43 of its 70 runs have been scored with two outs (61.4%). Harrison leads the way with 17 two-out RBI, followed by Bates with 16 and Fox and Yudin with 13 apiece ... the Bruins' .470 on base percentage is on pace to shatter the single-season record of .432, which was set last season.
BRUINS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Junior Andrea Harrison is in the nation's Top 50 in six statistical categories, including 16th in on base percentage (.557) and runs batted in per game (1.23), 19th in slugging (.886), 27th in home runs per game (0.32), tied for 39th in doubles per game (0.32) and 46th in batting average (.432). Freshman Kellie Fox ranks 28th in on base (.537) and tied for 37th in RBI per game (1.10), while senior Donna Kerr is 42nd in earned run average (1.46) and strikeouts per seven innings (8.6). As a team, the Bruins are fourth in doubles per game (1.81), seventh in slugging (.596), eighth in home runs per game (1.52) and scoring (7.32), ninth in batting average (.344) and 24th in ERA (1.80). BRUINS IN THE PAC-10 RANKINGS
Junior Andrea Harrison is in the Pac-10 Top 10 in nine offensive categories. She is fourth in slugging (.886), fifth in on base percentage (.557), tied for fifth in runs batted in (38), home runs (10) and hit by pitches (6), sixth in total bases (78), tied for seventh in doubles (10), ninth in batting average (.432) and tied for 10th in walks (20). Freshman Kellie Fox is in there in seven categories, ranking tied for third with four sacrifice hits, tied for fourth with two sacrifice flies, sixth in on base (.537), tied for eighth in walks (21), ninth in slugging (.798), tied for ninth in homers (8) and tied for 10th in RBI (34). The Bruins have one league leader in a category, as freshman Talee Snow is first with nine sacrifice hits. In the circle, senior Donna Kerr is in the Top 10 five times, ranking fourth in earned run average (1.46) and opposing batting average (.182), sixth in strikeouts (100), tied for ninth in wins (10) and 10th in innings pitched (81.2). As a team, UCLA is first in sacrifice bunts (24) and hit by pitches (36), tied for first in sacrifice flies (10), second in on base percentage (.470), doubles (56) and walks (161) and fourth in slugging (.596), runs scored (227) and runs batted in (216). SCOUTING THE LOYOLA MARYMOUNT LIONS
After going 1-3 last weekend in the Pre-Conference Round-Up Tournament in Las Vegas, Loyola Marymount improved to 16-19 on the season following a doubleheader sweep of NAIA squad Simon Fraser on Monday. The Lions are 0-3 against ranked teams this season, with losses to Tennessee, Texas and Arizona all coming at the Cathedral City Classic (Feb. 25-27). LMU is batting .295 as a team with 32 home runs and 11 stolen bases, averaging 4.6 runs per game. Five different players are batting over .300, led by sophomore Danielle Smith, who is hitting .413 with eight RBI and a team-best eight stolen bases. Junior Kylie Ahlo (.375), junior Sam Fischer (.350), junior Kelly Sarginson (.327) and senior Jennifer Nayudu (.316) are also above the .300 mark. Fischer leads the squad with 34 runs batted in and is tied with Sarginson for the team lead with nine home runs. In the circle, three have started at least seven games. Sophomore Molly Medeiros is 8-5 with a 2.76 earned run average and 57 strikeouts in 99 innings, freshman Stevie Goldstein is 2-5 with a 2.92 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 48 innings and sophomore Dana Waldusky is 5-5 with a 3.60 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 68 innings. Gary Ferrin is in his 17th year at Loyola Marymount and holds a record of 564-433-1. The Bruins lead the all-time series with the Lions 21-1 and have won two in a row after a doubleheader sweep at LMU last March 28 (8-2 and 5-0). Loyola Marymount's only win was a 4-2 triumph during the 2007 NCAA Regionals at Easton Stadium. The Bruins are 12-1 at home against the Lions.
SCOUTING THE STANFORD CARDINAL
The Cardinal opened up Pac-10 play last weekend at home against Arizona and dropped all three contests by scores of 8-0 in five innings, 6-1 and 2-0 to go to 24-7 on the year. The three losses dropped Stanford to 3-4 against ranked teams this season. The Cardinal are hitting .346 as a team with 33 home runs and 51 stolen bases, averaging 6.3 runs per game. Junior Ashley Hansen is first on the squad with a .531 batting average and 17 doubles to go with five home runs and 29 runs batted in. Junior Sarah Hassman is tops on the squad with 20 stolen bases and 38 runs scored and second with a .432 batting average. Three others, sophomore Jenna Rich (.396), sophomore Alix Van Zandt (.357) and freshman Michelle Prong (.351), are also hitting above .300. Rich leads the squad with seven homers and 34 RBI. In the circle, the Cardinal employ a pair of aces. Senior Ashley Chinn is 11-1 with a 1.92 earned run average and 80 strikeouts in 83 2/3 innings, while sophomore Teagan Gerhart is 13-6 with a 1.97 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 117 innings. John Rittman is in his 15th year at Stanford and holds a record of 623-284-3.
THE SERIES: BRUINS VS. CARDINAL
UCLA has won nine straight games against Stanford and leads the all-time series 53-14. The Bruins have outscored the Cardinal 51-10 during the streak, which includes 10-0, 7-3 and 10-1 victories last season at Stanford. UCLA is 22-8 at home all-time against Stanford and has won three straight at Easton Stadium. The Cardinal's last win in the series was a 4-1 triumph in Westwood on May 6, 2007.
INSIDE STATS AGAINST THE CARDINAL
Senior Donna Kerr hopes to continue a trend and finish her career against Stanford with an unblemished record. Kerr is 4-0 all-time versus the Cardinal with a 0.95 earned run average and 22 strikeouts in 22 innings. Junior Dani Yudin is hitting a robust .600 (6-for-10) with four walks, a homer, three RBI and three runs against Stanford, while senior GiOnna DiSalvatore is 13-for-30 (.433) with six RBI, seven runs and four doubles. Junior Katie Schroeder is 7-for-18 (.389) with an RBI, sophomore B.B. Bates is 4-for-10 (.400) with three RBI and junior Andrea Harrison is batting .294 (5-for-17) with a homer, five RBI and three doubles.
