No. 3 UCLA Women's Water Polo Defeats No. 12 Cal State Northridge, 9-3

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Senior Katie Rulon scored a season-high five goals to pace the No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team past No. 12 Cal State Northridge, 9-3, Sunday afternoon at Cal Lutheran's Samuelson Aquatics Center.

The Bruins (15-3) also received a pair of goals from senior Anne Belden and one goal each from freshmen Randi Bresee and KK Clark.

Cal State Northridge (8-12) registered one goal from Jessica Coy, Kirra Kylander and Kristin McLaughlin.

UCLA led 3-1 after the first quarter and raced to a 7-3 halftime lead.

The Bruins held the Matadors scoreless in the second half, totaling one goal in each of the third and fourth quarters.

Senior goalkeeper Brittany Fullen recorded eight saves in the cage for UCLA.

The victory over Cal State Northridge marked UCLA's fifth consecutive victory. Earlier in the day, the Bruins downed host Cal Lutheran, 22-3, in UCLA's first of two contests at the Cal Lutheran Spring Tournament.

The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team returns to action against No. 9 UC Irvine on Thursday at UCLA's Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. Game time is 3 p.m.
