ANN ARBOR, Mich. - KK Clark scored three goals, and Sarah Orozco and Kelly Ronimus each added two to help lead the No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team past No. 12 Michigan, 10-8, at Canham Natatorium on Sunday in a Michigan Invitational contest.
Clark finished the weekend with a team-leading 10 goals. The senior from Atherton, Calif., registered four against Colorado State and three versus Indiana in a pair of UCLA wins on Saturday.
The Bruins (3-0) opened their season with three consecutive wins at the Michigan Invitational over the weekend.
Michigan's Kiki Golden led the Wolverines with four goals.
UCLA led 4-2 after the first quarter. Michigan pulled its deficit to one goal by outscoring the Bruins, 3-2, in the second frame. UCLA held a 6-5 cushion at halftime.
The Bruins increased their margin to 9-6 after three quarters and held on for the 10-8 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Dement recorded five saves for UCLA. Michigan's Alex Adamson was credited with six saves in the cage.
UCLA returns to action in two weeks at the Stanford Invitational. The Bruins will face Hawaii (12 p.m.) and California (6:30 p.m.) at Stanford on Saturday, Feb. 4. The following day, UCLA will play two games - one against Michigan (9:10 a.m.) and one against an opponent to be determined.
