Anderson Cruises into Semifinals at All-American Championships

Oct. 7, 2011

LOS ANGELES - UCLA freshman women's tennis player Robin Anderson continued to make a big impression in her first college event on Friday, as she won two matches to reach the singles semifinals at the prestigious Riviera/ITA All-American Championships being held this week at the nearby Riviera Country Club.

Anderson, who had to win three qualifying matches just to get into the main draw, began her day with a 6-3, 6-1 upset over sixth-seeded Zoe DeBruycker of North Carolina in the round of 16. She followed that up with another straight-set win later in the day, this time downing SMU's Marta Lesniak, 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. Anderson will play either Beatrice Capra of Duke or second-seeded Allie Will of Florida in Saturday's semifinals. Those two players were squaring off in Thursday's late afternoon action.
