Clark Leads Bruin Divers on Day One of Minnesota Invitational

Senior Sara Clark led a foursome of Bruin divers at the Minnesota Invitational on Friday, placing second overall on three-meter with a score of 286.65. Clark was just over five points off of the first-place finisher, Lauren Leroy from Tennessee (293.10).

Sophomore Marisa Samaniego finished fourth (268.10), while senior Amanda Blong placed just behind her in fifth with a score of 267.75. Sophomore Tess Schofield finished 12th in the semifinals.

Earlier after semifinals, Tess Schofield finished 12th place.

"I am very happy with our performance overall," said Dive Coach Tom Stebbins. "Sara battled to the end and was passed by Lauren (Leroy) on a very good inward 2-1/2.

"The dive of the day cam from Amanda as her front 3-1/2 went for 7-1/2's in the semifinal.

"I am looking forward to tomorrow's one meter event and the team continuing to build on the way they are moving. We are really popping right now and it is a lot of fun to watch."

All four divers will take part in the women's one meter event beginning at 1 PM (CST) on Saturday.
