The UCLA women's water polo team rolled past Pomona-Pitzer by a score of 13-4 at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. The second-ranked Bruins are now 13-1 overall at about the halfway point of their season.
The team came out firing on all cylinders as Tanya Gandy put in one of her two goals 30 seconds into the match. Nine different Bruins scored to in the first half to push the lead to 12-0 at halftime. Kamaile Crowell, Tanya Gandy, and Katie Rulon all had two goals in the first half. Pomona scored the first three goals of the second half. Laura Condon put in her second goal of the match with 5:15 remaining in the game. Kim Nelson scored for the Bruins to push the lead back to ten, but then Karen Bonner added one more for Pomona with about three minutes to play.
Pomona goalkeeper Elena Peifer had seven saves and Brittany Fullen had six for the Bruins in her second straight start. The Bruins (13-1, 5-0) will travel to Arizona State next Saturday, but will return home to face MPSF opponent UC Santa Barbara on Sunday (3/11) at 1pm.
