Junior Matthew Reuter picked up UCLA's first points of the Pac-10 Championships as he placed sixth in the decathlon competition. Reuter scored a big lifetime-best in the 10-event race with his total of 6688 points. Oregon's Ashton Eaton won the decathlon with an NCAA auto score of 7604 points.

Reuter was in eighth after day one and moved up to seventh with a strong second day performance as he tallied two lifetime-bests and one season-best during the day.

Reuter tied for sixth in the high hurdles with his time of 15.51 (789 points), and then threw a lifetime-best 128-6 in the discus for the second best toss of the day (648 points). He tied for sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 13-11.25 (688 points) and followed that up with a season-best 146-8 in the javelin for the eighth-best throw of the day (511 points). In the final event, the 1500m, Reuter ran a big lifetime-best of 4:52.12 to finish seventh overall and add 606 points to his total.

His sixth-place performance gives the Bruins three points towards next week's full competition. Oregon leads as they picked up 19 points with three scoring athletes.
