Fifth-ranked UCLA embarks on its longest and toughest road trip of the season, traveling first to Hawai'i for a key, two-match conference series in Honolulu, HI.

Both matches will be played at UH's Stan Sheriff Center and will begin at 7 p.m. local time (9 p.m. PST). Both matches also will be televised by KFVE (Ch. 5) and shown on the islands.

Live stats and a radio broadcast also will be offered. Access www.uclabruins.com and proceed to the men's volleyball schedule or access www.HawaiiAthletics.com.

On Jan. 5 in the finale of the Outrigger Hotels Invitational, the Bruins defeated Hawai'i 3-2, handing the Warriors their second loss of the season. In that match, Head Coach Al Scates emptied his bench, playing all 13 players and receiving a career-best performance from third-year sophomore Jeff Woodley, playing in his first collegiate match. Woodley came off the bench and slammed 11 kills (.626) and recorded two total blocks for 13 points. True freshman Weston Dunlap added a career-high of 13 kills (.458) and sophomore Garrett Muagututia led the team with 19 kills. Senior libero Tony Ker set a school record by recording 27 digs in the match.

The Bruins have won four straight against the Warriors, including five of the last seven and the last two at the Sheriff Center. Overall, the Bruins lead the series, 49-18.

The Warriors (3-6, 2-4) recently lost a two-match series at UC Santa Barbara and have fallen to 10th place in the conference race. They also lost their league-opening series to undefeated Long Beach State as well as a tournament match on Jan. 4 to No.2 Penn State.

Last week, the Bruins split a pair of home conference matches against USC (0-3) and Pepperdine (3-1). The loss to USC marked the first time the Trojans won back-to-back matches against the Bruins in 17 years. The victory against Pepperdine was the Bruins' 72nd in the series and gave UCLA its first regular season series sweep against the Waves since 2004.

Against Pepperdine, junior Sean O'Malley slammed 18 kills (.300) and scored 20 points, both career-highs, and Muagututia also added 18 kills. Juniors Ryan Ratelle and D.J. Stromath added 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Ker dig 19 balls to record his eighth double-digit dig match of the season.

Following this week's trip, the Bruins will visit UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 20) and Cal State Northridge (Feb. 22). After that series, the Bruins venture to Muncie, IN for a pair of non-league matches against Ball State (Feb. 29 and Mar. 1). UCLA returns home on Mar. 4 for a non-league contest against Lewis.
