No. 12 Men's Tennis Heads Across Town
The No. 12 UCLA men's tennis team (13-6; 3-2 Pac-10) rounds out the Pac-10 season this week, traveling across town to take on No. 4 USC (19-2; 5-0 Pac-10) on Friday at 3:00 p.m. It will mark the third meeting between the two teams this year, as the Trojans most recently posted a 6-1 non-conference win at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on March 3. USC also beat the Bruins, 4-0 in a consolation match at the ITA National Team Indoors on Feb. 14 in Charlottesville, Va. This Friday's match can be followed live online by clicking HERE.
Arizona Loss Takes Bruins Out of Pac-10 Title Race
This Friday's UCLA-USC match was supposed to help UCLA earn a share of this year's Pac-10 title. However, an upset loss to Arizona last Sunday completely took the defending Pac-10 Champion Bruins out of this year's title race. Already with two losses in conference play, the best UCLA (3-2) can finish is in second place. The Trojans, meanwhile, can win the title outright with a win on Friday.
UCLA In the ITA Rankings
Following its loss to Arizona, UCLA fell two places from No. 10 to No. 12 in this week's ITA Team Rankings issued on Tuesday. Individually, the Bruins have four players in the top 100, led by No. 52 Haythem Abid. He is followed by No. 55 Matt Brooklyn, No. 56 Nick Meister and No. 97 Amit Inbar. In doubles, Meister is ranked with two teammates, checking in at No. 19 with Inbar and at No. 62 with Abid. Complete rankings can be accessed by clicking HERE.
