Men's Tennis Handles Washington, 6-1

LOS ANGELES - One day after defeating Oregon in its Pac-10 opener, the No. 11 UCLA men's tennis team picked up another victory on Saturday, this time downing Washington, 6-1 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins move their record to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-10. Washington, which lost to USC on Friday, falls to 12-5 overall and 0-2 in conference action.

After sweeping the doubles action to take a 1-0 lead, sophomore Michael Look put the Bruins up 2-0 when he quickly downed David Chu, 6-3, 6-3 at court No. 6. Next door at court No. 5, junior Mathieu Dehaine put UCLA within a point of clinching the match, as he downed Derek Drabble, 6-2, 7-6(2). UCLA's top player, Benjamin Kohlloeffel, ended up clinching the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Alex Slovic at court No. 1.

Other Bruin singles winners for UCLA on Saturday were Chris Surapol (court No. 3) and Philipp Gruendler (court No. 4). Washington's lone win came at court No. 2, where Daniel Chu upset Haythem Abid, 6-4, 7-5.

Next up for UCLA is an Apr. 6 showdown with Arizona State at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
