Head Coach Rick Neuheisel put the football team through an 80-plus play scrimmage to conclude Spring Practice on Saturday evening before 6,400 fans in Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus. Quarterbacks Richard Brehaut and Brett Hundley each led the team on touchdown drives during the action. Wide receiver Nelson Rosario caught a three-yard scoring pass from Brehaut. Running back Malcolm Jones ran 16 yards with a pass from Hundley for a score. Kip Smith booted a 30-yard field goal.

After defensive lineman Damien Holmes recovered a fumble on the opening drive of the game, Brehaut led the offense on a 10-play, 70-yard scoring drive on the second possession. Running back Johnathan Franklin ran three times for 48 yards during the drive, including a 39-yard burst which helped set up the touchdown pass to Rosario. Hundley guided the team into position for a 41-yard field goal on his first possession of the scrimmage. However, Kip Smith's kick sailed wide left. Hundley connected on a couple of pass plays of 14 yards to wide receiver Taylor Embree and 18 yards to running back Derrick Coleman during that drive.

Brehaut came back on and used a couple of nice pass plays to wide receivers Ricky Marvray (15 yards) and Randall Carroll (18 yards) which moved the ball inside the 30-yard line. The Bruins moved inside the 20 on another pass to Carroll. After a couple of Brehaut pass attempts to the end zone were broken up by cornerback Courtney Viney, Smith booted a 30-yard field goal.

The Bruin defense stiffened on the next two possessions. On one possession, linebacker Aramide Olaniyan forced a fumble and defensive tackle Donavan Carter recovered for the defense. Hundley then led the offense on an eight-play, 50-yard drive which culminated in a scoring pass to Malcolm Jones. Linebacker Phillip Ruhl made another big play for the defense when he intercepted a Maxwell Schuh pass late in the scrimmage.
