Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy - In game three of UCLA's four-game tour of Italy, the Bruins routed Italian club team Udine, 75-26, in Lignano Sabbiadoro on Wednesday. Junior forward Atonye Nyingifa led all players with 22 points.
Udine jumped out to a 6-1 lead to start the game, but it was all UCLA from there. The Bruins reeled off 17 straight points to end the first quarter, with the final eight coming from Nyingifa. The Bruins outscored Udine 19-10 in the second quarter to take a 37-18 advantage at halftime.
UCLA kept Udine off the scoreboard for the first nine minutes of the 10-minute quarter, scoring 22 straight points to make the lead 59-18 until Udine scored three points in the final 40 seconds on free throws. Udine's only field goal of the second half, a three-pointer, came with 6:03 left in the contest after UCLA had pulled ahead 67-21. The Bruins increased their lead to as many as 51 points (75-24).
Nyingifa led three Bruins in double-figure points. Joining her were Jasmine Dixon (14) and Rebekah Gardner (12). Also scoring were Kacy Swain and Markel Walker with eight apiece, Mariah Williams with five, and Moriah Faulk, Thea Lemberger and Rhema Gardner with two apiece.
UCLA will play its final game in Italy on Thursday, Aug. 25.
