LOS ANGELES - The UCLA baseball program moved its annual Alumni Baseball Game to Saturday, Feb. 16, due to heavy rains in excess of eight inches from Jan. 23-25. The Bruin baseball team took the newly-renovated field at Jackie Robinson Stadium for the first time on Monday, Feb. 11.
The 2008 Alumni Game will take place the weekend prior to the Bruins' home-opening series against Oklahoma. Former Bruin ballplayers will have the opportunity to be among the first to play on the newly-renovated field surface at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 16.
As in years past, viewing of the Alumni Game is free of charge to the public. The UCLA baseball program encourages past players, coaches and managers to participate in the afternoon's activities.
However, due to new NCAA rules pertaining to the start of the season, the Alumni will not scrimmage the current Bruins as in years past. Instead, the day's events will feature two exhibition games - one featuring Alumni playing Alumni followed by the 2008 Bruins competing in a six-inning intersquad contest.
