UCLA Rowing Wins Three-Team Group at Lake Natoma Challenge

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing team won its three-team group on the second day of competition of the Lake Natoma Challenge on Sunday. UCLA's varsity eight raced to a first-place finish, allowing the Bruins to win the tie-breaker in the group's final point total.

UCLA and Minnesota each accumulated 13 points in the day's final point standings, ahead of third-place Tennessee's 10-point total. The Bruins' varsity eight raced to a first-place finish, posting a time of six minutes, 33. 90 seconds. Minnesota crossed the finish line at 6:36.41 and Tennessee finished in 6:40.93.

UCLA's second varsity finished behind Tennessee (6:46.90) and Minnesota (6:53.08), posting a final time of 6:59.81.

The Bruins finished second in the varsity four, registering a time of 7:42.76, more than 11 seconds after first-place finisher Minnesota (7:31.06). Tennessee crossed the line in 8:03.28.

UCLA's novice eight finished second to Texas in the Petite Final race.

The UCLA women's rowing program returns to action against USC in the crosstown universities' annual dual meet on Saturday, May 2. UCLA will host the race in Marina del Rey, Calif., that morning.
