Each week, uclabruins.com will update and highlight select UCLA players' progress during the current MLS season. Games highlighted are from Mar. 19-25.

Tony Beltran (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 2006-07)
Tony Beltran started and played all 90 minutes in defense as Real Salt Lake fell to Chivas USA 1-0 at home on Saturday. Beltran recorded one shot on goal in the match and played a key role in a Real Salt Lake defense that allowed only six total shots despite giving up a goal. So far, Beltran has started and played every single minute for Real Salt Lake this season.

David Estrada (Seattle Sounders FC; Years played at UCLA: 2006-09)
After recording a hat trick in the season opener last week, Estrada continued his hot start to the 2012 season by scoring another goal in Seattle's 2-0 win over the Houston Dynamo. The reigning MLS Player of the Week scored his fourth goal of the season in the 23rd minute when he took a deflection off a Seattle corner kick and blasted one from the top of the penalty box that hit off of a Houston defender and into the back of the net. The Sounders would score again just four minutes later and held on to defeat the Dynamo 2-0 for their second straight home win. Estrada played all 90 minutes in the victory. Finally, Estrada leads all MLS players with four goals on the year and has scored his four goals on just eight shots, six of which were on goal.

Benny Feilhaber (New England Revolution; Years played at UCLA: 2003-04)
Feilhaber was held out of New England's 1-0 win over Portland on Saturday after he strained the left peroneal muscle in his leg. He had started in both games for the Revolution prior to Saturday's victory.
Revolution record: 1-2, 3 points, 6th place in Eastern Conference

Feilhaber's 2012 MLS season stats: 2GP/2GS, 151 minutes, 4 shots, 1 SOG

Kevin Hartman (FC Dallas; Years played at UCLA: 1995-96)
Despite FC Dallas falling to Sporting Kansas City 2-1, Kevin Hartman played valiantly in goal for FC Dallas, making seven saves after facing 18 total shots from Sporting Kansas City. One of those seven saves came in the 49th minute, when Kansas City drew a penalty kick and Hartman stopped Kei Kamara's try with a great diving save to keep the game tied at 1-1. Hartman continually made great save after great save to keep FC Dallas in the game before Kansas City finally prevailed in the 88th minute. Overall, Hartman has made 10 total saves in three matches for FC Dallas this year.

Hartman's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 270 minutes, 10 saves, 4 GA, 1.33 GAA

Jordan Harvey (Vancouver Whitecaps FC; Years played at UCLA: 2002-05)
Harvey came on as a substitute in the 57th minute and played 33 minutes in defense in Vancouver's 0-0 draw with DC United BC Place in Vancouver on Saturday night. Harvey came on for the injured Alain Rochat and did not record a statistic in his 33 minutes of play.
Whitecaps record: 2-0-1, 7 points, 1st place in Western Conference

Harvey's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/0GS, 78 minutes

Patrick Ianni (Seattle Sounders FC; Years played at UCLA: 2003-05)
Ianni started and played all 90 minutes in central defense for the Sounders in their 2-0 win over the Houston Dynamo. While Ianni played a crucial role on defense in Seattle's shutout, he also came up big on the offensive side of the ball when he drew a penalty in the 27th minute after teammate and fellow UCLA alum David Estrada scored in the 23rd minute to put the Sounders up 1-0. Ianni went up for a ball off a corner kick, but was pulled down from behind by a Houston defender and Seattle was promptly awarded a penalty shot. Brad Evans converted for Seattle to put them up 2-0, a score that would hold for the rest of the match. Ianni and the rest of the Seattle defense only allowed two shots on target and blocked three others to earn their first shutout of 2012.

Ianni's 2012 MLS season stats: 2GP/2GS, 180 minutes

Chance Myers (Sporting Kansas City; Years played at UCLA: 2006-07)
Chance Myers had a big night for Sporting Kansas City, drawing a penalty shot and recording an assist in Kansas City's 2-1 win over FC Dallas on Sunday. In the 49th minute and down a goal, Myers was brought down in the box by an FC Dallas defender, thus giving Kansas City a penalty kick. Though Kansas City missed on the PK, Myers would help them score the game winner in the 88th minute when he outran the FC Dallas defense and put a cross to the middle of the box where Kei Kamara finished the play, giving Kansas City the 2-1 win. Myers has started and played every minute thus far Kansas City and has helped the team to a 3-0 record and first place standing to begin 2012.

Myers's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 270 minutes, 1 assist, 2 shots

Matt Reis (New England Revolution; Years played at UCLA: 1994-97)
Goalkeeper Matt Reis recorded three saves and earned his first win and first shutout of the season as New England blanked the Portland Timbers 1-0 at home on Saturday. Reis made his 1,000th career save in the Revolution's victory, which is sixth best all-time in MLS, and earned his 65th career shutout, moving into fifth-place all-time. Fellow UCLA alum Kevin Hartman leads the MLS all-time in both categories, making 1,386 saves and recording 106 shutouts.

Reis's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 270 minutes, 7 saves, 4 GA, 1.33 GAA

Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 1997-99)
Rimando made two saves and allowed one goal in Real Salt Lake's 1-0 loss to Chivas USA. Both of Rimando's saves came in the 16th minute though when fellow UCLA alum Pete Vagenas received a corner kick and put a shot on net. Rimando made a nice diving save and pushed the ball aside before Chivas controlled the rebound and put another shot on goal from point blank range. Rimando again made a great save and knocked the ball out of play to prevent a goal. Overall, Rimando has nine saves on the year and has just a 0.67 GAA in three games.

Rimando's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 270 minutes, 9 saves, 2 GA, 0.67 GAA

Kelyn Rowe (New England Revolution; Years played at UCLA: 2010-11)
Rowe earned his third straight start of the season and played all 90 minutes as a central midfielder in New England's 1-0 win over the Portland Timbers. Rowe moved to the central midfielder to replace the injured Benny Feilhaber and almost scored his first MLS goal in the 43rd minute when he took a through ball and found himself one-on-one with the Portland keeper. But the Timbers' defense and their goalkeeper cut down his angle and forced the ball out of bounds, preventing a shot. Overall, Rowe had one shot on goal and took three corners in his 90 minutes of play. Revolution record: 1-2, 3 points, 6th place in Eastern Conference

Rowe's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 225 minutes, 1 shot, 1 SOG

Pete Vagenas (Chivas USA; Years played at UCLA: 1996-99)
Vagenas started and played 67 minutes as a central midfielder for Chivas USA in their 1-0 road win over Real Salt Lake. Vagenas had a golden opportunity for Chivas USA when a Chivas corner kick landed at Vagenas' feet in the 16th minute and he put a shot on net. But the shot was stopped by fellow UCLA alum Nick Rimando and the game remained scoreless. Vagenas was subbed off for Ben Zemanski in the 67th minute and recorded the one shot on goal in those 67 minutes.

Vagenas's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 200 minutes, 1 shot, 1 SOG

Marvell Wynne (Colorado Rapids; Years played at UCLA: 2004-05)
Wynne started and played all 90 minutes at central defender in the Colorado's 4-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. He has played in every single minute off all three of Colorado's matches this year and has helped the Rapids get off to a 2-1 start.
Rapids record: 2-1, 6 points, 5th place in Western Conference
This week's Rapids schedule: Apr. 1 - vs. Chicago Fire
Wynne's 2012 MLS season stats: 3GP/3GS, 270 minutes

Note: Michael Stephens and Amobi Okugo were not with their respective clubs this week as they were in Nashville, Tenn. to take part in Olympic Qualifying matches with the U.S. U-23 National Team. Okugo came on as a substitute and played 26 minutes in the United States' 6-0 win over Cuba before coming on again as a sub and playing 14 minutes in the team's 2-0 loss to Canada. The U.S. takes on El Salvador tonight at 6 pm PT in an attempt to reach the semifinals of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The United States can advance with a win over El Salvador or a draw if Cuba defeats Canada. The top two teams from Group A will advance to the semifinals on Saturday and the winner of each semifinal matchup will join the 16-team field for the London Olympics.
