SAN PEDRO, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing team lost to USC in the annual dual meet Saturday morning in San Pedro, Calif. The Bruins' varsity boats fell to the Women of Troy in three races. UCLA's novice eight crew registered the Bruins' lone victory of the morning.
Headed into the final race of the day, USC held the points lead at 3-1. The Women of Troy raced past UCLA in the varsity eight race to capture the three remaining points and win by a 6-1 margin. USC posted a time of 6:41.78, and UCLA crossed the finish line at 6:50.94.
USC's second varsity eight won with a time of 6:52.34. The Bruins clocked in at 6:59.10.
UCLA's varsity four crew lost to USC by over 12 seconds. The Women of Troy posted a time of 7:41.07, as UCLA finished the race in 7:53.70.
In the novice eight race, UCLA outpaced USC with a time of 7:20.47. The Women of Troy raced two novice eight boats, as the first clocked in at 7:26.42 and the second boat finished in 8:01.63.
The UCLA women's rowing program returns to the water the weekend of May 17-18 for the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships and the Pac-10 Championships.
