The men's and women's track and field teams are in Austin, TX to compete in the West Regional as tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships are on the line. In all, the Bruins have sent 16 women and 23 men to the meet with the hopes of qualifying as many athletes as possible to Nationals. The three day meet runs Thursday-Saturday and is hosted by the University of Texas.
The top 12 finishers in each event will earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor meet, held June 9-12 in Eugene, OR. This year, the regional system has changed from four regions to two for pre-national qualifying.
Several Bruins will battle for individual event wins including Cory Primm (800m), Turquoise Thompson (400m hurdles), Tori Pena (pole vault) and Katy Viuf (pole vault). Below is a list of athletes ranked in the top 12 heading into the meet.
