LOS ANGELES - The 12th-seeded UCLA men's tennis team will take on SEC power Ole Miss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, as the Bruins cruised to a 4-0 opening-round victory over Binghamton at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Friday.
UCLA (17-6) dominated every aspect of Friday's match, taking the doubles point with wins at court Nos. 2 and 3. The Bruins' No. 3 team of Daniel Kosakowski and Holden Seguso were flawless in their match at court No. 3, notching an 8-0 victory over Bastian Bornkessel and Ruben Devos.
After winning six first sets in singles, the Bruins added to their lead when sophomore Maxime Tabatruong downed Devos, 6-0, 6-0 at court No. 6. Amit Inbar then gave UCLA a 3-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Arnav Jain at court No. 2.
Senior Holden Seguso secured the clinching point for UCLA on Friday, beating Ruben Haggai, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 position.
With the win, head coach Billy Martin picked up his 400th career coaching victory. His career record now stands at 400-85 in 18 seasons.
Saturday's second-round showdown between UCLA and Ole Miss will be a rematch of the 2009 NCAA Quarterfinals; a match won 4-3 by UCLA in College Station, Texas.
